This windmill was probably build in 1596 or even earlier for pumping the Ammers-Graafland polder together with the Achtkante molen and the Graaflandse molen.
In 1865 it was adapted for habitation. Until 1969 the mill was in use for milling, currently its purpose is primarily for habitation and milling is on a voluntary basis.
