Text from the plaque:
This Sherman tank is presented by the South Alberta Light Horse to the City of Medicine Hat in Canada's Centennial Year and is a memorial to the Men of the South Alberta Regiment who used them during the 1939 - 1945 War.
The park is located close to City Hall and other downtown buildings. The park has numerous monuments dedicated to the people of Medicine Hat who fought in the wars, were early pioneers or supported efforts to restore the town following the flood of June 1995.
In addition to the stage, there are fountains, sitting areas and walking paths that can be enjoyed by park visitors. The grounds are well kept and the area is very clean. Users of the park are friendly and seem to enjoy this passive recreation park. There are numerous shade trees that make for a nice walk on a warm Medicine Hat afternoon.
The tank sits on a pedestal, somewhat imposing, and is a reminder of the types of equipment used by Canadian soldiers during the war.
