The Johnson Plaza/Fountain is on the north side of the campus, between the John Garrett Health and Physical Education Building and the John Miskelly Fine Arts Building. Rose State College was formerly Mid-Del Junior College, then changed to the Oscar Rose Junior College, followed by another name change in 1983 to the current Rose State College. According to the school’s website, the school held its first class on Sept. 21, 1970 and there are 25 buildings on 120 acres.
The circular fountain is approximately 15 ft. in diameter, 4 ft. tall, in a landscaped perimeter of yellow flowers. Flagpoles are along the south circular drive behind the fountain, with a second plaque just south of the flagpoles/seating area.
