Spring Lake Park is named after one of its two lakes; Spring Lake, which is located at the southeast corner of the city. In December of 1953, Spring Lake Park was incorporated by referendum which included a very small part of Ramsey County, due to the fact that the Fire Department that was located in Ramsey County and bore the name Spring Lake Park. At the time of the incorporation the population of Spring Lake Park was approximately 960, and has grown to its present population of 6,805. This is an updated number since the 2010 census.

The City of Spring Lake Park consists of approximately 2.1 square miles with six community parks offering many types of recreational activities.

In 1975, Spring Lake Park City Hall was relocated to its present location at 1301 Eighty First Avenue NE. In honor of our Nation bi-Centennial, Spring Lake Park changed its Logo and painted its water towers to that of our nation's colors of red, white and blue with white stars.
