Das Denkmal:
Es besteht aus einer massiven Beton-Grundplatte mit den Maßen 7,00 x 6,50 Meter. Aus dieser Grundplatte ragt ein weißer Marmorstumpf von 50 x 50 cm Stärke und einer Höhe von etwa 1,50 m hervor. Mittig der Grundplatte befindet sich ein Edelstahlprisma, welches von der Grunplatte durch Spalten in sechs Teile aufgeteilt ist. Der abgebrochene Teil dieses Marmorblocks von circa fünf Meter Länge, liegt mit einen Ende über der scharfkantigen Seite des Edelstahlprismas.
Hintergrund:
Am 1. März 1943 wurden in Magdeburg 470 Männer, Frauen und Kinder in das Konzentrationslager Auschwitz-Birkenau deportiert.
Inschrift:
"Zum Gedenken an die von 1933 bis 1945 verfolgten und ermordeten Magdeburger Sinti und Roma. Sie wurden Opfer des Völkermordes in Auschwitz und in anderen Vernichtungslagern."
Künstler:
Das Mahnmal stammt von Wolfgang Roßdeutscher (geb. 1945 in Magdeburg) einem deutschen Steinmetz und Steinbildhauer.

The Monument:
It consists of a concrete base plate 7.00 x 6.50 meters. From this base, a stump of a white marble block with 50 x 50 cm thickness and about 1.50 m height, is topped. The broken part of the marble blocks (about five meters in length), is connected to one end of the sharp side of the stainless steel prism.
Background:
On 1 March 1943, 470 men, women and children were deported from Magdeburg to the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
