The WWII Monument is part of a larger memorial to Alabama veterans of all of America's wars. It is located outside of the American Legion's Alabama War Memorial building. The address of the Alabama War Memorial building is 120 N. Jackson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104. There are no hours listed, but daytime visits would probably be best.
At one time there was a statue on the marble pedestal, but vandalism took its toll and the American Legion removed the remains and put up the planter which has flowers during the growing season. One can still take time to pause and reflect as one reads the words on the base. Those who did the damage have freedom because of the sacrifices made by the veterans being honored. By coming to visit this memorial we honor those who served and tell the vandals they will not defeat us.
The statue that used to stand on the pedestal has been moved to a spot under the Alabama Capitol (see WMDVXY, Statues Under the Alabama Capitol - Montgomery, Alabama).
The words on the monument are:
NOR SHALL YOUR GLORY

WHILE FAME HER RECORD
