McKinley Park is located two blocks west of N. Western Avenue, on N.W. 13th. Parking is available on the east side of the park. The park contains a large recreation center with a gymnasium, in which a Head Start program is also conducted.
There is a baseball field, soccer field, basketball practice courts, playground equipment and an interesting sprayground with water fountains and spraying equipment for children to enjoy. Picnic tables are available, however, we did not see any cooking facilities or pavilions. Paved walking trails encircle the large park and appeared to be well used. Flanking the main roadway from the east, two fascinating WPA-built buildings stand on each side of the roadway. These are small native stone buildings which are constructed to look like small castles. They do not appear to be in use at this time, although it's difficult to say.
This is a City of Oklahoma City owned park, open seven days a week during daylight hours. The sprayground has varying hours of operation throughout the summer:
May 21 - June 3: M-F Noon-6PM
June 4 - Aug.12: Noon - 9PM
Aug. 13-19: Noon - 6PM
Aug 20-Sep 3 - Weekends only Noon - 6PM
