The Jazz Player

The Jazz Player

Artist Bryan Massey's sculpture "The Jazz Player", shown above, is mounted beside another of Massey's sculptures, "Uptown Saturday Night" on a single stand in the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden. A 2009 work, "The Jazz Player", was originally purchased and given to President Bill Clinton at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Clinton Presidential Library. The figurative Saxophone player in the piece recalling President Clinton's playing the same instrument. This sculpture is currently exhibited in Little Rock's Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden in Riverfront Park rather than at the Clinton Library. Reference

The way the two pieces are mounted it could be assumed to be one work, as the saxophonist who is so passionately playing his instrument in "The Jazz Player", faces the two dancing figures in "Uptown Saturday Night".
