This monument to the Georgia 5th Infantry, is located along a wooded path that connects Battleline Road and Alexander Road in the Chickamauga National Battlefield. It is one of many similar markers to Georgia units that fought here during the battle.

This monument is dedicated to the Georgia 5th Infantry, is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks their position at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 1863
during the battle. The 5th Georgia Infantry was commanded by Col. Chas. P. Daniel and was part of Jackson’s Brigade in Cheatham’s Division. This is one of two markers to the 5th Georgia on the battlefield.

Short Physical Description
A rock-faced, peaked-top granite slab, 4'6" wide x 6' high x 1'8" thick, that carries an inscription, with a cartridge box carved in relief above it. Marks unit's position on September 19, 1863, at 1:30 p.m.
