Museum of Akureyri was first established May 1999. Role of Aviation Museum is to collect, preserve and display objects related to aviation in Iceland, its history and development.
They have on display aircraft, aircraft engines, ultralights and airport vehicles.
On display are photographs and artifacts that illustrate the history of aviation in Iceland from 1919 to the present.
In June 2000, was held in Akureyri, the first so-called Flying Weekend by the Aviation Museum and the Aviation Association of Iceland.
Since that time, there is an annual air show in June every year.
