Sveti Jure (Croatia) - Mountain Summits on Waymarking.com

Sveti Jure (Saint George) is the highest peak (1762 m.a.s.l) of the mountain range of Biokovo, which stretches along the Dalmatian coast, and is also the second highest peak in Croatia. There is a route leading to it from the town of Makarska. A television tower and a small chapel are located at the top of the peak.

The views from Biokovo are spectacular - when the weather is very clear, it is reputedly possible to see the peak of Monte Gargano in Italy. 196 km² of the area of the mountain range is protected as a nature park. Because of its unique beauty and topography, Biokovo attracts hikers, speleologists and climbers.
