The building at Dittrichring, popularly known as "Runde Ecke" ("Round Corner") housed until 1989 the district administration of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR. 1989 this was one of the focal points of the Monday demonstrations, which ushered the peaceful revolution and the path to German unity.
Today the building is home of the memorial museum in the "Round Corner", in which the permanent exhibition "Stasi - Power and Banality" is shown.
