Road Prong Trail follows an old Native American trail and a later toll road over the divide of the Smoky Mountains. It was the only road over the mountains until Newfound Gap was discovered. The trail runs 2.4 miles from the trailhead on the Clingmans Dome Road to where it intersects with the Chimney Tops Trail (where the coords were taken). It is all downhill from the upper end so start at the top. The trail passes Road Prong Cascade and Road Prong Falls. The trail has many areas where the walking surface consits of very slick, mossy rocks. There are several sections were the trail is actually in Road Prong. There are plenty of rocks to step on and the water is not deep enough to require wading; however I would recommend checking with the Ranger Station at Clingman's Dome before attempting the trail. If there has been a lot of rain or it is early in the year and the snow is melting you do not want to atttempt this trail.
