This Forney Creek Trailhead is located 1.1 miles from the Clingman's Dome Parking Lot on the Forney Ridge Trail. Forney Creek Trail is a lower creek trail that is considered strenuous. It connects Fontana Lake to Clingman's Dome. The trail is 10 miles long with an elevation change of 4,000 feet. There are trout streams and primitive campsites along the route. A number of the streams are very difficult to cross, waterproof footwear is advised. This is a beautiful hike north of the Fontana area, however, the terrain and stream crossings make it difficult to travel.
