This Cathedral, designed by architect Bert Keck, is unusual by having three spires atop its neo-gothic facade when most churches of this style only have two towers. Two other churches in Duluth and Terrebonne are also designed by Keck and they have three spires. All these buildings are no longer in service as churches.
This one has been vacant since 1990 but was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Work on the building is ongoing.
