This monument is dedicated to Howell's Georgia Battery, in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. Saturday, September 19, 1863 at 10:00 am. The battery was commanded by Captain Evan P. Howell and had 2 6 Pdrs., 4 12 Pdr. Howitzers.

rock-faced, peaked-top granite slab, 4'6" wide x 6' high x 1'8" thick, that carries an inscription, with crossed cannon barrels carved in relief above it. Marks unit's position on September 19, 1863, at 10:00 a.m.
