The St Peter's Parish WW1
Memorial sited at the entrance to St Peters -in-Thanet church. A cross of
sacrifice tops a tall stone column mounted on a raised planted plinth. The only
inscription on the cross is AD 1914- 1918. To the side of the cross memorial
stands a memorial wall, which displays the names of 118 men of the Parish who
fell. The names are displayed on a tiled wall under a lych-gate type canopy in
order in which year of the war they made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Memorial reads;
IN THE YEARS OF OUR LORD 1914 - 1918 / ALL THOSE OF THIS PARISH
WHO IN THE GREAT WAR DIED FOR US AND / FOR OUR PEACE ARE NAMED ON THIS MEMORIAL
THAT THEY MAY BE / REMEMBERED HERE TOGETHER HOWEVER FAR APART THEY LIE.
