EN: This building was created as a silk ribbon factory for the companie Sarasin & Cie. in 1850/51. It was created by the well-known Swiss architect Melchior Berri (1801-1854). After it was abandoned for a few years it was converted into a youth hostel in 1979. Later it closed for a long and systematic renovation and reopend in March 2011.
DE: Das Gebäude wurde 1850/51 als Seidenbandfabrik der Firma Sarasin & Cie. erstellt. Es wurde von dem bekannten Schweizer Architekten Melchior Berri (1801-1854) geschaffen. 1979 wurde das leer stehende Gebäude zu einer Jugendherberge umgewandelt. Nachdem es für eine lange und gründliche Renovierung für einige Jahre geschlossen war, wurde es im März 2011 wieder eröffnet.
