These two griffins are part of the a set of banisters.

The bannisters for the staircase leading to 917 Washington Street in Hoboken, NJ have these two griffins. They would appear to be cast iron. The bannister is attached to the head of the griffin.

Griffins are creatures with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle... in this case the head looks more like a dragon. Only the griffin on the right has wings however.
