This sculpture is located in the Clock Tower Plaza of Santa Cruz California. It is a memorial to civilians who have been killed by wars, particularly the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This monument in downtown Santa Cruz, California, was erected by the citizens in August of 1995 to commemorate 50th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The sculpture is based upon a smaller image made in 1959, by the artist
E. A. Chase.
The sculpture is an abstract representation of human figures embracing in a way that they are melted together. A plaque on the base reads:
