The bust of Camoes inside the Portuguese Museum at Kelley Park. The bust is wearing a 1500 type of ruff. A small sign on the pedestal reads:

"Camoes through his epic poem os Lusiadas, celebrated Portuguese history and achievement, however his poetry and his way of life embodied the Portuguese spirit and his literary genius made him immortal and beloved by all who read him."

Camoes is one of the most important poet of Portugal. He's compared to the likes of Shakespeare and Homer. Os Lusíadas in Portuguese is so profound that it is called the "language of Camões" Some of his other works are: Auto do Filodemo and Auto dos Anfitriões.

The sculpture is done by a local Sunnyvale dentist, Dr. Maria Jose Moore, who's also a professor at San Jose State.
