This benchmark now resides next to a active Gas Well.

To reach from the St. James Methodist Church in Smithfield, WV. Go Easterly for 3.1 miles to a side road left in the small area of Pricetown. Turn left and go northbound on a graveled road for 3.15 miles to a side road left at the top of a hill. Turn left and go westerly on a narrow graveled road for 0.6 miles ot the mark on the left. Continue NW on the graveled road for 0.25 miles to a gas line ROW and a road to your right. Turn right and go NW on the road for 0.15 miles to the top of the hill and the station.

This reset of EVANS 2 (USGS) is a U.S. Geological Survey Station Mark Disk set in the top of an 8 x 8 inch concrete post. The disk is stamped EVANS 2 1957 RESET 1969.
