Mokpo is the southern terminus of the National Express way and of the train lines including the high speed KTX. It is a historic harbor on the southwest coast, and important defensive location, departure point for ferries to Jejudo and other outlying islands, and place of political activism. This guide map highlights many of the important tourist points including the magnificent Mt. Yudal overlooking the harbor and the unusual rock formations of Gatbawi.

At the corner of this busy intersection an artificial waterfall has been constructed along with a pond comprising Meeting Waterfall Park. There are trails above the falls that are accessible from another Mokpo Memorial Park around the corner, which features a large monument to Korean independence.
