The final resting place of J.C. Elliott is at the east side of Rose Hill Burial Park, in the northwest corner of section 11. J.C.'s headstone is 4 feet from the road, and is a flat grey stone with a white inset box for test. Flowers are etched above the name. A large, upright family marker is just east of J.C.'s headstone.

1916: Paris is bombed by German zeppelins for the first time
1926: Reza Khan is crowned Shah of Iran under the name "Pahlevi"
1936: The longest game in the history of the National Hockey League was played. The Montreal Maroons and Detroit Red Wings went scoreless until 16 and a half minutes into the sixth OT when Mud Bruneteau ends it at 2:25 in the morning. It would be the longest game until May 4, 2000
1946: Six inmates unsuccessfully try to escape from Alcatraz Prison. A riot occurs, the so-called "Battle of Alcatraz"
1956: 96 U.S. Congressmen sign the Southern Manifesto, a protest against the 1954 Supreme Court ruling (Brown v. Board of Education) that desegregated public education
1966: The Nigerian government forbids all political activity in the country until January 17, 1969
1976: United States Bicentennial: From coast to coast, the United States celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence
1986: The Chernobyl disaster: A mishandled safety test at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Pripyat, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union "killed at least 4056 people and damaged almost $7 billion of property".[3] Radioactive fallout from the accident concentrated near Belarus, Ukraine and Russia and at least 350,000 people were forcibly resettled away from these areas. After the accident, "traces of radioactive deposits unique to Chernobyl were found in nearly every country in the northern hemisphere"
