Born in England, Richard Tarr lived in Marblehead (Massachusetts) and Saco (Maine) before relocating to Rockport in 1690. This historic marker identifies the location of Tarr's original dwelling. Tarr died in Rockport in 1732, and is buried not far from this location in the
Old First Parish Burying Ground.
