In downtown Prague, on the south side of the one-story brick building at 920 Jim Thorpe Blvd. occupied by Bailey's Floor Covering, this happy mural is painted in black and white, with touches of color to perk your interest.
At the top is written PRAGUE OKLAHOMA. It shows the town in the 1930s, with three sets of Czech dancers in full costume - all in black and white. Surrounding the black and white scene is a border in color, with red hearts, flowers and stems. At the far right, a man is playing the oompa-pa polka sound of a tuba. At the center a fourth male dancer is upstaged by a larger female dancer, in full color. She is appearing to step out of the scene and draws your immediate attention.
Prague was established in 1902 and settled by Czech immigrants. The town's history is rich with the Czech culture. Each year, on the first Saturday of May, the town celebrates with a Kolachi Festival, complete with dancing, songs, food, crafts, a parade and carnival rides. It is definitely an event worth attending.
