James Chamberlain Jones
Popularly known as “Lean Jimmy,” lived here. First native Tennessean to become Governor, he defeated James K. Polk in 1841 and 1843. In 1850, became President of Memphis & Charleston RR. Served as U.S. Senator from 1851 to 1853. He died in 1859.
"Lean Jimmy" got the name because he was 6ft 2in, but only 125 pounds. TN Encyclopedia. The nearby farmhouse does not appear to be on the NRHP listing.
Historical marker is located on the east side of Highway US321 north of Lebanon. There is a shoulder pulloff available.
