The original Out of Africa Wildlife Park opened in Phoenix in 1988, but moved to the current location in 2005. Out of Africa is located on 104 acres in the central Arizona highlands. Upon arriving, visitors can opt to walk to the animal enclosures or take the tram to the top of the hill and walk down. On the way up, the tram enters an open habitat area where guests will come in close contact with a number of African animals, including zebras, giraffe, camels, water buffalo, and various species of African antelope. Longer tours of the open habitat via Unimog are available for an additional fee. Beyond the open habitat area, individual enclosures includes lions, tigers, grizzly bears, sloth, lemurs, hyena, and numerous others.
