- Quelle: Wikipedia

"The cave was formed, as against about 3,000 to 4,500 years of Montaña Corona had a massive eruption. A huge lava flowed it through the newly formed country Malpais de la Corona, the rapid cooling of lava at the surface provided for the tube formation. Long flowing the lava beneath the frozen surface further, leaving a long cave, as they dried up. at about 20 points broke the ceiling and formed at the break points the so-called Jameos, up to 20 meters deep shafts. is the Cueva de los Verdes, only a part of this seven-kilometer-long cave system. It is one of the longest lava tube on earth, starting at the Montaña Corona, and ends at the shore below the water surface in about 50 meters deep. Large areas are still unexplored, less than 50 percent are accessible . In earlier centuries the islanders came here for protection against pirates. "- Source: Wikipedia
