A granite block mausoleum with double iron gates stands in the
Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal, Virginia. The names WALTER + DEARING are in raised block letters above the locked gates.
The mausoleum contains six vaults. Included within are:
- Joseph C. Walter (husband of Sarah Margaret Moore) 1856 - 1928
- Sarah Margaret Moore Walter (wife of James A. Dearing and Joseph C. Walter) 1839 - 1931
- William Grimsley Dearing (son of James A. Dearing and Sarah Margaret Moore) 1871 - 1948
- Anne Mariah Dearing (daughter of James A. Dearing and Sarah Margaret Moore) 1872 - 1957
There are two additional vaults -- one appears to be Alfred Willis Dearing; one is unconfirmed. (Please note that field inspection was unclear and no accessible records could be found.)
The Walter/Dearing mausoleum is within a stone's throw of the Soldiers Circle.
