The Spud Drive-In Theater was built in the spring of 1953 and opened on July 3, 1953. The theater is a road side attraction with a 1946 Chevy truck (Old Murphy) which carries a 2 ton potato at the entrance. Today in addition to showing movies it also hosts a variety of events and concerts and features a campground. On June 5, 2003 the Spud Drive-In was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district covering 42 acres with 2 buildings and the screen structure.
