Oudomxay is a province in the north of Laos—remote, hilly, subsistence agriculture, and a tiny amount of tourism. The provincial capital, Muang Xai, contains the provincial bus station. From this dusty spot buses travel north to China, south to the tourist drawcard of Luang Prabang, and to the villages scattered throughout the province.
In design the station consists of an open covered area, with a ticket counter, seats for patrons, surrounded by a dusty field, off the main road. Food and drink on sale around, and toilets, though not recommended.
