Der Begründer einer der bekanntesten amerikanischen Kleidungsmarken wurde als Löb Strauß in eine jüdische Familie im oberfränkischen Dorf Buttenheim geboren. Das Museum zeigt Hintergründe der Entwicklung jüdischer Emigration nach Amerika, Strauss' erster Jahre dort bis zur Gründung des Unternehmens, das noch heute besteht. Audio und Video vermitteln die interessante Geschichte in mehreren Sprachen.
Buttenheim wurde 1017 erstmals erwähnt, liegt im Regnitztal zwischen Forchheim und Bamberg im Landkreis der letztgenannten Stadt.

The founder of one of the most known American clothing brands was born as Löb Strauß into a Jewish family in a little Franconian village in Germany. The museum presents the background for the development from Jewish emigration to the US over Levi's first years in the new world up to the establishment of the company still existing today. Audio and video support the the interesting story in various languages.
The village of Buttenheim, which was first mentioned in 1017, is located in the Regnitz valley between the old royal and imperial towns of Forchheim and Bamberg and belongs to Bamberg county.
