This former two engine firehouse was used by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Department as the fire station for Virgil. Built in 1959 the station was used for the town until early 2010 when a new station was built on 1391 Concession 6. In August 2010 the 809 Newark Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets of Niagara-on-the-Lake needed a facility to use since the community centre they used prior closed and the new one under construction would be too small.
As of May.5.2012 the station's former name is still on the front of the building.
