The "Repat" celebrates 70 years of service in 2012.
The layout of the hospital is flat (only a small number of two storey buildings) with buildings linked by outdoor corridors which generally have one side open to the elements.
The Main Wards (1 to 8) are at the Eastern end and have been upgraded over the years to contain rooms with 4 beds in. In the initial years (and at least until the 80's) the wards were open can contained rows of beds along the edge of the ward.
Although a public hospital the "Repat" still does specialise in providing health care to returned servicemen and their wives.
