Decided to post this waymark in this category as it highlights an issue seen in early photography.
In October 1948, Ansel Adams traveled to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to take photographs of US national parks for a Guggenheim Fellowship. For this posing, Mr. Adams chose the Methodist church, which is now located right on the Cades Cove driving loop road. A white clapboard country church.
However, comparing the current 2012 photograph with the 1948 image (available on the Knoxville Museum of Art website for educational purposes) determines that the original image was horizontally reversed! Viewing the church from the cemetery reveals the building faces left and not right.
