"The Throne Hall is the primary audience hall of the King, used for coronations and diplomatic and other official meetings. This Throne Hall is the second to be built on this site. The first one was constructed of wood in 1869-1870 under King Norodom. That Throne Hall was demolished in 1915. The present building was constructed in 1917 and inaugurated by King Sisowath in 1919." The frieze over each door depicts the royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Cambodia. We can see two animals which are a gajasingha (a lion with an elephant trunk) on the left, and a rajasingha (a royal lion), on the right; and supported by the animals are two royal five-tiered umbrellas representing the King and the Queen.
