As trucks begin to approach Hope they are asked to stop to check their brakes. At this pull off is a sign showing 7% descent over 6 kilometers with a "you are here" indicator.

The descent from the Hope Slide to Hope is a treacherous one with an almost continous 7% grade over 6 kilometers. At the Slide is a pull-out for truckers to stop and check their brakes along with this sign showing where the only runaway lane is.
