This station lies inside the boundaries of the city and provincial capital of Chiang Rai. It is a large station, busy, 18 bays, but is entirely standard in design. A front ticket area, a long, rectangular, covered waiting area, and at the back, toilets, and food and drink for sale. Buses from here leave for the towns and villages within the province, and to the nearby provinces. Longer journeys depart from the Number 2 Terminus, the long distance station, located south of the city (waymarked). There is a bus service from here to there.
