Marker Name: B.S. Tanks
Marker Text: This marks the site of the Brooks-Scanlon water tanks and logging camp established here in 1929. Water was pumped through a pipeline from a well five miles distant and used to supply the railroad locomotives as well as the camp. With the end of railroad logging in the China Hat area, the camp was abandoned in 1941 and the tanks used as a source of water for sheep on adjacent ranges until 1962.
The well mentioned above is known as B.S. Well and is located at N 43° 30.555’ W 121° 02.015’.
