This quonset hut spent many years serving as a 'headquarters' for swine production in the animal science department at OSU. As an animal science student, I remember watching boar collection in the building, as well as seeing different equipment used to artificially inseminate sows. Most of the university's swine were housed about a mile south of this facility, but a few dozen were always near this hut. A couple of years ago, all swine were moved to new facilities about a mile north of this facility, and all the fencing here was removed. The nearby creek is being rerouted to alleviate some erosion problems, so construction equipment is where the pigs were, and all that is left of the facility is this hut. I think it is still being used by the animal science department, but not for boar collection anymore.
