In the 1920's the population of Danes in Montreal grew substantially due in great part to the encouragement of the Canadian government.
Those that didn't go west to work on farms found employment in factories, stores, restaurants and construction in Montreal.
Their first places of worship were situated downtown. Under Pastor Jensen the relocation of St. Ansgar's lutherian church to Notre-Dame-de-Grace materialized and the corner stone of the soon to be completed St. Ansgar's Lutheran church was laid by Pastor Emeritus Vilhelm Beck
in 1963 and the first services were held within a year on Grand Boulevard in NDG.
Although the church's bold design is not yet considered of patrimonial value, it's yearly autumn bazaar is a popular outing in NDG where one can find exquisite strudels.
Dans les années 1920, la population d'immigrants danois au Canada s'est accrue substantiellement et les membres de cette communauté qui ne se dirigèrent pas vers l'ouest canadien pour trouver du travail s'installèrent à Montréal pour y travailler dans les usines, les commerces, les restaurants et le secteur de la construction.
Leurs premiers lieux de cultes se trouvaient dans le bas de la ville.
Toutefois, l'église danoise fut relocalisée dans le quartier Notre-Dame-de-Grâce par les pasteurs Jensen et Beck en 1963, préparant ainsi le terrain pour les premiers services religieux qui eurent lieu
avant la fin de cette même année.
Bien que cette église à l'architecture audacieuse n'est pas considérée comme un édifice à valeur patrimoniale, son bazar annuel d'automne est une activité
populaire chez les citoyens du quartier.
