The Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA) was the first humane society in Canada, founded in Montreal in 1869.
Guided by the humane ethic, it is the mission of the Canadian SPCA to protect animals against negligence, abuse, and exploitation, to represent their interests and ensure their well-being and to raise public awareness and help develop compassion for all living beings.
They receive annually 14,000 animals. They educate the public about the benefits of sterilisation. They also advise people when adopting animals.
They offer thousands of healthy animals for adoption. The majority of them are cats and dogs, but there are also many birds and rodents who are all in need of a new home.
The Adoption Service is open seven days a week:
Monday to Friday 12PM – 8PM
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00PM – 5:00PM
Check out the list of adoptable animals in the Montreal shelter on the Montreal Petfinder website.
