The old "aircraft carrier" municipal airport atop the mesa on the western edge of downtown St. George has been decomissioned and closed down. This new expanded facility on the flats southeast of St. George and just north of the Arizona border is much more "user-friendly" to pilots and can handle larger aircraft and increased volumes of air traffic created by the expanding population of the area.
