This fountain is located in Belem in front of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Hieronymites Monastery). It was made for the Portuguese World exhibition in 1940 under a project by Cottinelli Telmo. It´s composed by 2 basins. A round one on top decorated with the coat or arms of Portuguese navigators and noble personalities connected to the discoveries (Not portuguese provinces like it´s often said. These are in the garden surrounding the fountain made with diferent kinds of bushes). This basin has several spouts that project water in diferent directions and heights and it has light during the night allowing the use of the fountain for musical and light shows. The lower basin is square and the water from the top basin falls into it from the holes between the coat of arms.
