"Das Schloss Wildenwart liegt im Chiemgau, hoch über dem Tal der Prien. Der Vorläufer des Schlosses entstand im 12. Jahrhundert und wechselte mehrfach den Besitzer. Schloss Wildenwart erhielt seine jetzige Form als Vierflügelanlage mit Eckturm um einen mit Arkaden geschlossenen Innenhof um 1600. Im Graben der ehemaligen Burg wurde zu dieser Zeit eine Gartenanlage angelegt. Das Schloss war Sitz der bis 1806 mit der Hochgerichtsbarkeit ausgestatteten Herrschaft Wildenwart. Es wurde im Jahr 1862 von Erzherzog Franz V. von Modena-Este und seiner Frau Adelgunde von Bayern erworben. Es kam auf dem Erbweg schließlich in den Besitz der bayerischen Königsfamilie." wikipedia

The castle 'Wildenwart' is located in the Chiemgau, high above the valley of the river Prien. The forerunner of the castle was built in the 12th century and changed owners several times. Castle Wildenwart was given its present form as a four-wing building with corner tower and closed courtyard arcades in 1600. In the moat of the former castle was created a garden at the same time. Until 1806 the castle was the seat of the high court-appointed rule 'Wildenwart'. It was purchased in 1862 by Archduke Francis V. of Modena-Este and his wife Adelgunde of Bavaria. It was finally in the way of heritage collections of the Bavarian royal family. wikipedia
