The confluence of Aster Creek with the Lewis River is just downstream from the South Entrance Road bridge across the Lewis River. Just upstream from the bridge is the scenic Lewis Falls. At the confluence, the Lewis River has two channels and Aster Creek enters the north channel.
Aster Creek begins at Aster Lake some 4 miles to the northeast and has a total length of about 5 miles.
The Lewis River begins from Shoshone Lake some 7 miles to the NNW, flows for about 3 miles to enter Lewis Lake, after leaving Lewis Lake it flows for about a mile to this confluence with Aster Creek. Below here the Lewis River flows for about another 10 miles to join the Snake River near Yellowstone’s south entrance.
