Off Jay Street in the city of Rochester, one crosses railroad tracks from the east, and the building next to the water tower looks like it was once a train station. One has to wonder if it once served steam engines in its past life. The train station is now property of St Joseph's Villa, and the water tower offers a space for advertising for Rochester Colonial, which manufactures wood frame windows and doors.
You can see the tower from I-490, as it is the tallest structure in the skyline near the Ames Street exit. If you want to visit it, take either Ames or Child Street exits, turn north to Jay Street and bear left until you get to Water Tower Park.
