Due to be completed by mid-2012, this new station, lying 6kms east of the city centre, is this new, large, Phitsanulok bus station. Number two, to be exact. During my visit I spoke to the head technician, who explained the plan for the station. It is located on the 'Indochina Highway', which runs from Singapore to Kunming, in southern China. Long distance buses passing through the province will stop here, while the current bus station (waymarked) will deal largely with intra-provincial traffic and transport to neighbouring provinces.
In design the station follows the expected, a long and rectangular building, but it is big, the largest station I have seen outside Bangkok. There are two stories, at least 30 bays, and it is big. In addition to the station there is a great deal of construction in the vicinity. New apartments, shops and general activity.
