Black decorative iron gates with two plaques showing the Barnsley Coat of Arms. Two loom shuttles denoting weaving, one male miner denoting the large mining industry at that time and a male glass blower denoting the glass making, some of which still remains.
The park was a gift to the people of barnsley in 1861, and a statue of Joseph Locke, a noted railway engineer, is situated a short way in from this entrance.

Park is large, very well kept and popular. Full details on the BMBC web site -http://www.barnsley.gov.uk/locke-park
